I first found poetry in tenth grade English and have been exploring it ever since
I worked with Michael Anania at Northwestern in 1967, then at the University of Illinois until 1971. I was published widely until 1976. Silenced by abuse and trauma, I became sober in1981 and returned to spoken word. In 2013 I joined with two poets in recovery to publish The Poetry of Well-being. In 2025 I completed an MFA in poetry at Pacific University, working with Kwame Dawes and Mahtem Shiferraw. My thesis is a collection of poems, Jubilee Along the Fault.
I also write memoir, essays and sermons.
