an ecumenical social justice ministry
supporting individuals
and empowering communities

Poetry Street was started in 2014 as an ecumenical social justice ministry by two poets, a black man and a white woman. Robert A. “Bubbie” Brown and I shared a vision to integrate the Riverhead community by providing an open mic reading series where “every voice is heard.” In 2017 we took Poetry Street “on the road” with events and videos. Since 2019 Chip Williford and Maggie Bloomfield have continued to host Poetry Street as a hybrid at the Riverhead Library (www.poetrystreetontheroad.com). Now in the pacific Northwest, I co-host Poetry Street PNW, a monthly reading at Camas Library, with Julie Sparling. (www. library@cityofcamas.us). Poetry Street PNW was featured in Vancouver Family Magazine.

Write to Recover is a writing workshop for people in recovery from substance abuse and trauma. It is designed to help people heal from trauma by finding their voices, thus strengthening resiliency, identity and connection. Unconditional love of our neighbor is an act of resistance, a rebuke to hatred and fear. With God’s grace, we can overcome isolation and build community. I perform a program of poetry, story-telling and humor about how to strengthen community by recovering from individual and shared trauma. The presentation is followed by discussion. It may also include a writing workshop to implement resiliency. For further information, contact info@susandingle.com.

As a clinical social worker licensed in Washington state, I work with individual clients in person and virtually. Everyone has a journey. No one has to be alone. A therapist is the companion who journeys beside the client. For further information, contact info@susandingle.com.
